Troublemaker 01:23
Should've known I'd have been gone Should've learned more of the old songs It's gonna take too long To even start to know the damage Upon the planet Word had been getting around Nobody did too much about it, though Buried heads in the ground Neck-deep in the erosion From the explosion And is this how we're going to die? When will catastrophe strike? There's no use in denying the time could be now
2.
I've been lost in the fog I've been destined to wander I've been stuck in a dream That I never remember The morning seems It could reveal It could contain The possibility of freedom (Look around for the means to make a change) Too many strangers Or policemen I turn away Recoil in anger And never heal From wounds That are eating me away Away I wander I go to the fog
3.
Uncertainty Rearing its head again Accompanied by dread Harmony falling so flat I guess you're still depressed Insist on living with this heartache As if it wasn't anything at all First mistake that you made Is still waiting Back of the bar for the final call
4.
There's a problem On the mountain It's also deep beneath the sea Almost lost it But it found us here In this pile of broken things Hit the wrong notes So the script goes But it's getting hard to follow

about

"Uncertainty, rearing its head again... accompanied by dread."

Words written for a draft of a song in 2018, but feel like they belong here in spring, 2020. Some itch brought these songs out again, and I started recording them in spurts right before San Diego shut down.

I've been sitting on these songs, glacially revising them, for the past few years as part of a broader rumination on the redemptive power of rock and roll. I still don't have any answers as to what'll heal this broken world, but I figured I'd share some of what's been stuck in my head along the way.
